Children’s Memorial Hospital to Benefit Chicago (May 29, 2007) – Fun and good health will be the order of the day when two 5K fun runs and a set of kid’s races are held at 9 a.m. Sunday, June 24, in Lincoln Park. Organized by the Lakeshore Athletic Clubs, the events will benefit Children’s Memorial Hospital and everyone can have a good time testing themselves against the clock and each other. “This is the best of all possible worlds,” said Walter Kaiser of Lakeshore Athletic Clubs. “A beautiful June morning, kids and their parents having fun together, some good exercise, prizes and money raised for a wonderful organization: Children’s Memorial Hospital.” The Lakeshore Athletic Clubs Walter Kaiser 5k Fun Run for the Children will feature two 5K runs: an open race and a masters (age 40 and over) run. The top three male and female racers in each run will receive awards. After the 5k runs, Lakeshore will hold a series of Kid’s races, with distances varying by age. Adults and children participating in the 5k will need to fill out applications either at one of Lakeshore’s four locations, on line at www.runwalkjog.com/walterkaiser5k/default.htm. or at Lincoln Park before the runs, but kid’s in the short races do not need to register. Standard registration fee is $30 but the fee for Lakeshore members and Children’s Memorial Hospital employees is $25. Race Day registration, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., is $35. Additional donations are welcome with Lakeshore Pledge Donors earning great prizes. Runners will gather at the Grant statue, just south of Cannon Drive and Fullerton, near the east entrance to Lincoln Park Zoo. Lakeshore Athletic Clubs, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2007, has locations Downtown (441 North Wabash), at Illinois Center (211 North Stetson), in Lincoln Park (1320 West Fullerton) and in Streeterville (333 East Ontario). Registration at the clubs closes at 6 p.m. June 20.
